The annual DC Caribbean Day Parade down Georgia Avenue was shorter this year and was sadly marred by a shooting late in the afternoon. But Rachel and I caught some of the parade – the costumes were as outrageous as in years past – and we tried to take some “family friendly” photos:
Props to Rachel and a handful of neighbors for drawing attention to this big old tree at 1205 Shepherd Street, which was recently marked with the “orange dot of death,” indicating the DC Urban Forestry Administration planned its removal. Last weekend the dot was removed!
Woohoo! Petworth’s “stinky” Safeway is getting a major makeover. How big is the news? Local blogger Prince of Petworth captures the spirit, “This news is so huge that I have passed out twice since starting to write this and I’m only on the first paragraph. This is, in the parlance of our times, a true gamechanger.”
