Presidency and Public Administration

December 19, 2008

I’ve posted a copy of the draft syllabus for my Spring 2009 course on the Presidency and Public Administration (PAPA 6254). It’s a course I’m particularly anxious to teach – in part because it offers the opportunity to draw on the work of some CPAP colleagues.  Brian Cook will join us to discuss his book Democracy and Administration, Karen Hult will join us to discuss her book Empowering the White House (with Charles Wolcott), and Anne Khademian will join us to discuss her books Checking on Banks and Working with Culture. This is a great time to study the relationship between the presidency and public organizations. One of our objectives will be to consider how scholarship reflects and informs our thinking about the early months of the Obama presidency. Fun!
